Practising self-care begins in the morning, as soon as you open your eyes. Everyone has a habit of starting their morning uniquely. You can be one of those laid-back people who want to start their day at a slow pace, or you may be excited and filled with energy first thing in the morning. However you decide to start your day, there are always ways to make that start better and happier.
Everything in the day revolves around a good morning routine. If you are trying to improve yours, here are several ways you can do that.
1. Wake up feeling grateful
Happy mornings start with a handful of gratitude. The feeling of being grateful is a guaranteed way to start your morning on a positive note. It is a powerful source that can keep you energised throughout your day. Try to think of at least five things you are grateful for before you get out of bed. Recognizing how good it is to be here and experience life can make your entire day happy.
2. Get a good amount of sleep
The secret to a great start to the day is preparing yourself from the previous evening. Providing enough sleep will make your body feel light and filled with energy. You will notice this from the first moment you wake up. The magical elixir of a good night’s sleep will prove to be excellent for your physical and mental health. It will improve your mood and will keep you fresh and rejuvenated throughout the whole day.
3. Meditate and/or exercise
The body rests while you are sleeping, and it requires stretching after you wake up. Plenty of people enjoy light meditation with yoga or exercising shortly after they wake up. This keeps your blood flow moving, and creates a lasting feeling of happiness because it releases serotonin and dopamine too. Having a mindful morning will always provide positive results.
4. Make your bed
However silly it may sound, this is the first task that we do in the morning. It provides us with the feeling of accomplishment before the day has even begun. Experiencing a happy morning means starting with a routine that is easy to repeat every day.
5. Make a plan
Instead of putting yourself under the pressure of remembering the tasks you need to do in a day, try writing them down. When you wake up in the morning, write a plan that can help you get through the day with ease and in a seamless manner. It is an excellent practice that has brought many great results.
Spend some time with yourself in the morning. Allow yourself to stop feeling groggy, and always start your day on a happy note. As you can see, you do not have to go to great lengths to have a great day. All you need is a fresh morning and a smile on your face.
